Tattoo-Related Brachial Plexopathies with Adjacent Muscle Atrophy
Israel Steiner, MD, and
Itzhak Wirguin, MD
17 April 2001 | Volume 134 Issue 8 | Page 715
IN RESPONSE:
We appreciate Dr. Post's point. No doubt, tattoos carry the risk for transmission of infection. Two of our patients were negative for hepatitis B virus infection (the third one was lost to follow-up before work-up). Although the possibility of another infection cannot be ruled out, the relatively long latency period between the procedure and appearance of the neurologic findings does not support this possibility.
