Berlex Foundation Awards
The Berlex Foundation announces the availability of two awards: the Berlex Scholar Award in Clinical Research and the Berlex Scholar Award in Basic Science Research. The clinical research award supports research in obstetrics and gynecology and will provide up to $50 000 for 1 year to the institution in which the recipient does this research. Candidates for this award must have a full-time faculty appointment in a school of medicine or public health. The basic science award supports research by clinician-investigators and will award a 1-year scholarship of $50 000 to the institution in which the recipient does this research. Candidates for this award must be junior faculty members who have completed an approved residency or fellowship in obstetries and gynecology. The application deadline for both awards is 1 October 1998. American Board of Internal Medicine 1999 Certification Examinations
The American Board of Internal Medicine will offer certification examinations in sports medicine and internal medicine. The registration period for the examination in sports medicine is 1 July-1 November 1998, and the examination will be held on 16 April 1999; the registration period for the examination in internal medicine is 1 September-1 December 1998, and the examination will be held on 24-25 August 1999. The 1999 sports medicine examination is the last one for which diplomates may qualify through a practice pathway.
