EDITORIAL

The 6th International Cochrane Colloquium: Baltimore

right arrow Frank Davidoff, MD, Editor

1 May 1998 | Volume 128 Issue 9 | Page 775

As readers of Annals are aware, systematic reviews are becoming an important link between the results of clinical research and the decisions made by practicing clinicians [1, 2]. The Cochrane Collaboration, founded in 1993, is an international network of more than 4000 persons and dozens of institutions dedicated to finding controlled trials and other high-quality evidence on the effects of health care interventions, organizing the information into systematic reviews, distributing those reviews, and keeping them up to date. Over the few short years of its existence, annual colloquia organized by the Collaboration have attracted a growing international audience and have been important in the development of the organization's work. The 1998 colloquium will be held in Baltimore, Maryland, on 22 to 26 October, marking the first time the colloquium will take place in the United States. The colloquia are lively, intense, instructive, and fun; having the 1998 colloquium in Baltimore will give people in this country a first-hand opportunity to learn more about systematic reviews and the Collaboration.

Annals is pleased to be an organizational sponsor of the 1998 Cochrane Colloquium.
