Treatment of Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura
Neil L. Kao, MD
1 October 1997 | Volume 127 Issue 7 | Page 572
TO THE EDITOR:
Dr. McMillan's paper [1] on refractory chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura was excellent. He stated that "an accessory spleen ... should be removed, if present." In the six references cited, accessory splenectomy was successful in 24 of 42 cases (57%). Is Dr. McMillan aware of any prognostic factors for successful or poor outcomes?
