LITERATURE OF MEDICINE

Reviews and Notes: Endocrinology: Case Studies in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism: A Problem-Oriented Approach

1 December 1996 | Volume 125 Issue 11 | Page 944

JM Neal. 229 pages. New York: Igaku-Shoin; 1996. $39.50. ISBN 0-89640-297-5. Order phone 800-765-0800.

A teaching survey of common clinical entities. Each section opens with a typical case summary, which is followed by multiple choice questions relevant to diagnosis and treatment. Each group of questions is followed by a discussion of the rationale for and the implications of the correct answers. A short closing section gives a few key references for further reading in textbooks and journals. There is no subject index: This is a text to be worked through for a self-tuneup (for example, before a certifying examination), not a reference book.
