LITERATURE OF MEDICINE

Review and Notes: Pharmacology: Conn's Current Therapy: Latest Approved Methods of Treatment for the Practicing Physician

15 June 1996 | Volume 124 Issue 12 | Page 1098

RE Rakel; ed. 1211 pages. Philadelphia: WB Saunders; 1996. $55.00. ISBN 0-7216-6259-5. Order phone 800-545-2522.

This staple source on therapeutic advice continues to have much the same character it has had for years. It offers succinct and practical articles with concrete and detailed advice but gives no references documenting the origins of the advice. Diagnostic points are covered in many articles, usually briefly. A few articles are probably too short for the complexities they aim to cover. But at its price—which is modest for a book of this size, certainly reflecting its wide use—its shortcomings can be overlooked.
