LITERATURE OF MEDICINE

Review and Notes: Pharmacology: Drug Therapy Decision Making Guide

15 June 1996 | Volume 124 Issue 12 | Page 1098

J McCormack, G Brown, M Levine, R Rango, and J Ruedy; eds. 548 pages. Philadelphia: WB Saunders; 1996. $45.00. ISBN 0-7216-4215-2. Order phone 800-545-2522.

Fifty-one outlines, with substantial detail, on drug therapies for 10 disease groups (cardiovascular to rheumatic). These are followed by a section on five common adverse drug reactions. The last two thirds of the book comprise detailed short articles on commonly used drugs. The outlines are structured as answers to sequential questions that physicians are likely to ask themselves about initiating and managing drug therapy. References to key clinical trials are often given to back up an author's advice.
