LITERATURE OF MEDICINE

Reviews and Notes: Chest Medicine: Essentials of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine

15 October 1995 | Volume 123 Issue 8 | Pages 639-640

3rd edition. RB George, RW Light, MA Matthay, and RA Matthay; eds. 677 pages. Baltimore: Williams & Wilkins; 1995. $79.00. ISBN 0-683-03458-8. Order phone 800-638-0672.

The editors' intent in this new edition was to hold the text to a convenient size while maintaining a clearly clinical orientation. This has been done by reducing the basic science content and discussion of some elementary considerations. The four sections continue to have the same scope as previous editions: relevant basic anatomic and functional science; diagnostic methods; assessment and care of lung diseases; and the particular problems of the critically ill patient.
