An exhaustive tabular compilation of death rates in 1955, 1965, 1975, 1985, and 1990 (with estimated rates for 1995) from causes attributable to smoking and other major causes, presented by country. Graphic presentations of risks for dying in the age groups 0 to 34 and 34 to 69 years in 1990 for both sexes. Additional comprehensive data will also be valuable to epidemiologists and to clinicians seeking evidence for additional steps in preventive medicine. An unusual feature is the permission to reproduce any part of the book without permission, with the exception of one article reprinted from The Lancet.
