LITERATURE OF MEDICINE

Reviews and Notes: Emergency Medicine: Emergency Care in the Streets

1 October 1995 | Volume 123 Issue 7 | Page 559

5th edition. NL Caroline. 1087 pages. Boston: Little, Brown; 1995. $49.95. ISBN 0-316-12891-0. Order phone 800-759-0190.

This is a thorough and detailed textbook on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of emergency problems as seen by paramedics. It could, however, be a helpful introductory text for physicians unaccustomed to dealing with emergency problems who must prepare to work in settings where these problems may present. The illustrations on how to prepare patients for transport are detailed and explicit. References are to both books and journals.
