A reference and reading source for the layperson on how to maintain good health and how to interpret symptoms and signs and decide what to do about them. This is all dealt with through algorithms, many illustrations, and explanatory text formatted primarily according to body system. Emphasis is placed on problems that need the attention of a physician; this is not a do-it-yourself substitute for professional care. Some of the text is written at too advanced a level for some high school graduates, but the simplicity and clarity of the algorithms that make up a major part of the opening quarter of the book compensate for this weakness of the main text. High-quality color illustrations and diagrams; detailed index.
