This text deals primarily with common problems likely to be seen in family practice or general internal medicine. The question-answer format is unusual but could force readers into assessing how they organize their thinking about these problems. Some questions seem, however, to be unlikely in form or content in the setting of primary care: For example, "Will treatment for GABHS pharyngitis protect against poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis?" and "How do the function curves (stroke volume on the Y axis and afterload on the X axis) differ for the normal heart and the heart with severe systolic dysfunction?"
