This edition contains substantial additions to the text of the first edition; notable new sections are those on epidemiologic topics, geriatric problems, and the normal kidney. Other changes are extensive and include changes in the authorship of some chapters. The focus remains sharply clinical and remarkably free of some of the academic preoccupations that mar some "clinical" textbooks. This book will be a helpful source for non-nephrologists unable to find adequate detail in discussions of nephrologic questions in general textbooks of internal medicine.
