Incremental Value of Thallium-201 Imaging
Raghuveer K. Halkar and
Yavuz A. Tarcan
1 June 1995 | Volume 122 Issue 11 | Pages 881-883
TO THE EDITOR:
Christian and colleagues [1] included in their paper a paragraph about limitations, citing the main limitation as referral bias. However, we wonder whether it is fair to assess the incremental value and cost-effectiveness of any test in a study in which the result of the test itself influenced the decision to proceed to the end point of the study. The structured abstract format (summary) uses subtitles such as objective, design, participants, measurements, setting, results, and conclusions; however, casual readers may not realize the study has serious limitations. We suggest including a limitations subtitle. This suggestion may also be valid for other journals.
