Edited by Kerry Atkinson, an Australian hematologist. The many international contributors include several American experts. The 92 chapters comprise 13 sections, such as those on the biological background of hematologic transplants; clinical results from autologous transplantation in various conditions; complications; and developing areas. The last chapter, as might be expected, deals with the future of bone marrow and stem-cell transplantation, the use of cytokines, gene transfer, and prophylaxis of graft-versus-host disease.
The book is set in attractive type and has boldface headings, references at the end of each chapter, and an extensive index.
