LETTER
Cost-effectiveness of Combined Statin-Resin Therapy
David L. Katz, MD, MPH
1 October 1994 | Volume 121 Issue 7 | Pages 548-549
TO THE EDITOR:
There is a surprising omission in the study by Sprecher and colleagues [1]. Although the authors reported the lipid-lowering efficacy of various combinations of fluvastatin and cholestyramine, they made no mention of their relative costs. In clinical practice, cost-effectiveness is an increasing priority.
Sponsorship of the study by a pharmaceutical company may have been responsible for the omission. I ask that the cost-effectiveness of the drug combinations be reported.
