Reviews and Notes: Gastroenterology: Guide to Liver Transplantation

15 February 1994 | Volume 120 Issue 4 | Page 352

Guide to Liver Transplantation

Thomas L. Fabry and Franklin M. Klion; eds. 334 pages. New York: Igaku-Shoin; 1993. $98.50.

A broad but detailed survey of information that general internists and gastroenterologists who refer patients for possible liver transplantation might wish to know: the relevant biology; legal, social, and ethical questions; selection of patients for referral and assessment of the potential recipient; operative methods; postoperative care. The appendixes cover social support, database systems, transplantation for nonresident aliens, and diet. Well documented.
