We respond to a letter on the interaction of sucralfate and levothyroxine [1].
We studied 10 stable hypothyroid patients on levothyroxine replacement for whom 1 g of sucralfate was prescribed with levothyroxine to be taken in the morning. The results of thyroxine (T4) and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) assays done before and after 6 weeks of sucralfate administration are shown in Table 1 below. LETTER

We conclude that sucralfate administration did not significantly interfere with the in-vivo absorption of levothyroxine in stable hypothyroid patients.
