Second edition. Laurie Dornbrand, Axalla J. Hoole, and C. Glenn Pickard; eds. 748 pages. Boston: Little, Brown and Company; 1992. $26.50.
For a pocket (large) manual, quite detailed summaries of diagnosis and therapy of the disorders most likely to be seen in practices in general internal medicine and family practice. In addition to the generally designated medical problems, it covers ophthalmologic, otolaryngologic, gynecologic, neurologic, psychiatric, and minor surgical problems. One section covers health maintenance: immunizations, exercise, advice for travelers, screening for breast cancer, and similar matters. Bibliographic references, mainly to recent journal articles, are annotated.
