Figure 2. Outcomes (total and stratified) of randomized and quasi-randomized clinical trials of currently marketed antimicrobial urinary catheters. End point is proportion of participants (or catheters) developing catheter-associated bacteriuria. Three trials examined nitrofurazone catheters, 4 pre-1995 trials examined silver-alloy catheters, and 5 post-1995 trials examined silver-alloy catheters. The risk ratio is indicated by the horizontal position of the solid black squares. The 95% CIs around the risk ratios are indicated by the width of the solid lines.
